The project has reduced the streetlight electricity consumption with around 30 %, which is an important step towards realizing the city’s climate ambition of becoming carbon neutral in 2030. In addition, the LED lamps have improved traffic safety for the citizens, as unlit sections of the city's roads have been given new and stronger lighting.

The replacement has been cost-neutral for Aarhus Municipality, as the costs are covered by savings in energy consumption. The new fixtures have paid for themselves within 18 years.

From 2021-23, Aarhus Municipality expects to replace the remaining 20,000 streetlights. These are located in residential areas and on traffic roads.
